My background in horses is as follows: Growing up, the main form of riding I did was Western- Western Pleasure, Horsemanship, Contesting (Barrels, Flags, Pole Bending, etc). As a kid I spent many hours of my day playing on horses. My cousin and I would go out all day pretending to be anything from cowgirls to jockeys. We did a lot of trail riding and we would jump whatever came our way!
Prior to moving to Pennsylvania to work at John Barnes' clinic, I spent some time raising and training Quarter Horses and Paints, but knew that would not become a full time venture for me. My joy came from interacting with the horses, and I had a hard time selling them! |

While I lived in Pennsylvania, I began taking English lessons- Equination, Dressage and Eventing. My instructor integrated Centered Riding techniques with my lessons, which not only improved my awareness when riding but was an important conponent of improving my back motion. Combining the awareness of Centered Riding with motion I obtained with myofascial release helped me fully recover from the limitations I had following my back suregery. The MFR sessions released the physical restrictions and the Centered Riding helped me to integrate the new movement in a balanced way. While in Pennsylvania, I also had the oportunity to work with several therapists who specialized in treating horses using JFB-Myofascial Release. It was amazing to see the results that can occur in such a short time. Working with horses is such a fulfilling experience because horses repond so quickly to the treatment. I developed the seminar so that I could help others feel the amazing connection that occurs while treating horses. I feel honored to be able to both help treat horses and to also teach others how to perform myofascial release on horses. Since I have returned to Indiana, I am involved in a variety of activities. I have my treatment center, where I treat humans and also horses; I teach an equine seminar; and I continue to dable with writing books. I also have a variety of horses! One horse is an eventing horse, another is a contesting and trail riding horse, one is western pleasure and halter, and the other is just a great companion! They all are wonderful therapists who teach me something almost every day!
